In Literacy for writing, we have been learning to think about what is happening in stories we read and practice retelling them.
This group listened to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk being read to them. They then had to write sentences about one part of the story. We know that if there is a word that we can’t spell, we have to say the word and write down the words we can hear in the word.
Kaka shows his capability writing his ideas about the story read to him. He works collaboratively with others and listened carefully showing his curiosity.

Learners are to say sentences out loud and repeat them back. Orally, they are to identify where full stops and capital letters. Learners are encouraged to shape their writing by adding detail and information into their writing.
Kaka is beginning to show capability by writing his sentences without support. He is curious about new word groups and gifted vocab and is thinking about how to use them in his writing. Kaka works collaboratively with other learners around him by sharing his ideas but also listening to others and their ideas too.

Kaka and Maths

Learner: Kaka
Date: 8 June, 2017
Learning Area: Maths
Level One and Two
Use a range of counting, grouping, and equal-sharing strategies with whole numbers and fractions.
Know the forward and backward counting sequences of whole numbers to 100.

Learning Coach: P.L
Learning Observed
In Maths, we have been learning to add and subtract tens by counting on in tens from any number to 100. We have a rule that if we add and subtract tens, then only the tens change and the ones stay the same. We have been learning place value games to help support our learning.

Kaka showed curiosity by listening carefully to questions asked and to feedback given to improve his understanding. He is being collaborative by working with other learners around him and sharing his ideas. Kaka is beginning to show capability by circling the tens in equations and adding them together. This does not involve renaming or bridging tens.
